As a Principal Product Manager, you will shape commerce strategy and multi‑year roadmap working across the company in defined areas of the platform, guiding platform‑level capabilities and the consumer‑facing experiences relied on by millions of customers. You will create company-wide revenue, share, and cost savings impact by leading product and services initiatives across a large, multi‑team ecosystem—spanning engineering, design, data, business, and compliance teams worldwide. You will bring clarity, strategic insight, and deep product expertise to one of Microsoft’s highest‑scale platforms to drive growth and profitability in our consumer businesses through the consumer commerce product we build for Microsoft. This role requires a seasoned principal-level product manager who can blend business strategy, technical depth, and customer understanding to drive meaningful impact across a highly matrixed organization.

  • Define and evolve a problem or opportunity space, include long‑term product strategy and roadmaps across consumer commerce platform services (catalog, order management, subscriptions, payments, billing, and related functions) and consumer purchase experiences.
  • Integrate global commerce realities—regulation, tax policy, privacy‑by‑design, payment norms, financial compliance, and global latency/performance expectations—into strategy, planning, and architecture decisions.
  • Assess new business models, marketplace expansion opportunities, and ecosystem growth levers; articulate tradeoffs and strategic sequencing to maximize customer impact and business value.
  • Lead cross-functional v-teams in requirements articulation and advise engineers as they design scalable, reliable, and privacy‑compliant service architectures that meet global SLAs and support millions of daily transactions.
  • Leverage systems thinking and incorporation of AI into requirements and design tasks to accelerate and increase impact across the software lifecycle.
  • Lead complex cross‑team initiatives—establishing crisp problem definitions, requirements, KPIs, and execution frameworks that accelerate delivery velocity.
  • Drive platform and experience convergence to reduce fragmentation, improve architectural coherence, and unlock long‑term innovation across Microsoft’s consumer commerce stack.
  • Represent global customer needs across regions (North America, India, Asia, Europe) to ensure experiences land effectively and responsibly.
  • Partner with business, finance, compliance, and marketing teams to ensure product decisions support revenue models, platform economics, adoption, and global market expansion.
  • Champion data‑informed experimentation and evidence‑based decision‑making across both consumer‑facing experiences and backend services.
  • Leverage AI research toolset to pull internal, competitive, and market insights to enhance insights before, during and after the product development lifecycle.
  • Create clarity and alignment across a large, matrixed ecosystem—removing friction, simplifying complex problem spaces, and driving shared decision‑making.
  • Lead by example, elevating quality, inclusivity, and operational excellence across teams.
  • Run effective cross‑time zone communication rhythms (design reviews, roadmap forums, steering meetings) to align global stakeholders and sustain execution momentum.
  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development OR equivalent experience.
  • Strong fluency in service‑oriented architectures, APIs, distributed systems, data flows, performance optimization, and operational excellence fundamentals.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑team efforts and influence engineering teams without direct authority.
  • Capable of simplifying complex technical and business concepts for diverse audiences, including executive audiences.
  • Crisp written communication, consumable async updates, decision memos, and narrative building
  • Bachelor's Degree AND 12+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development OR equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years experience taking a product, feature, or experience to market (e.g., design, addressing product market fit, and launch, internal tool/framework).
  • 6+ years experience improving product metrics for a product, feature, or experience in a market (e.g., growing customer base, expanding customer usage, avoiding customer churn).
  • 6+ years experience disrupting a market for a product, feature, or experience (e.g., competitive disruption, taking the place of an established competing product).
  • Ability to use ChatGPT, machine learning, and other forms of AI to increase impact of the software development lifecycle in both accelerated process, deeper market insights, and improvement of the product itself.
  • Experience delivering commerce, fintech, payments, or marketplace products involving regulatory, tax, or privacy‑driven constraints.
  • Ability to interpret data, customer signals, and business KPIs to drive strategic prioritization and long‑term planning.
  • Experience working with distributed global teams.
  • Familiarity with privacy, security, and data governance frameworks (DMA, regional consumer data regulations).
  • Exposure to AI‑driven product development (personalization, fraud/risk decisioning, experimentation, or insights).
