About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is to provide technical leadership in designing, developing, and testing power, motor control electronic hardware, and electric machines for our products and services. The role involves engineering, developing, programming, and implementing AC drive systems, power converters, and electric machines. The candidate will demonstrate expert knowledge of processes and skills to design a wide range of power systems, with an emphasis on commercial details and project management. Projects will include speed and torque controlled motor drive development, motor electrical design, and the development and tuning of regulators including current, speed, torque, EMF, and field weakening. The position requires expert knowledge of motor architectures, motor design, control algorithms, and dynamics, as well as power converter concepts such as buck-boost DC/DC. Additionally, the role involves power electronics design and packaging, development of detailed models and simulation of systems using Matlab and Simulink, and providing mentorship for other engineers.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience, preferably in Electrical/Electronic/Computer engineering.
  • 15+ years of experience involving power electronics design, motor control development, motor electrical design, low level firmware development, and/or control electronics design.
  • Excellence in analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong communication skills in both written and verbal forms.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask multiple priorities.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office.

  • Overnight travel required with international travel optional.

Responsibilities

  • Engineer and develop AC drive systems, power converters, and electric machines.
  • Demonstrate expert knowledge of process and skills to design a wide range of power systems.
  • Lead project development phases related to the products supported.
  • Collaborate with Sales team and customers to define and support product requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership of complex, multi-faceted engineering projects.
  • Mentor teams or individuals in professional, technical or problem-solving methods and assign tasks or projects.
  • Observe all safety procedures and use proper safety equipment as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and safe work environment.
  • Promote a strong company image and maintain positive working relationships.
