Raytheon Technologies (RTX) is seeking a Principal Platform Engineer / Linux with well-rounded Linux Infrastructure Engineering expertise to join an agile product team. The Ideal candidate will have experience in both traditional infrastructure design; provisioning of platform, storage, and networking resources for existing on-premises infrastructure hardware that ideally also has experience in emerging DevOps/DevSecOps & Modernized technologies. The Principal Platform Engineer would be engaged in the design and implementation of the system updates and upgrades with Focus on the Linux Server / Linux OS expertise and will interface both with the Program’s Sr. Management and the Customer for Technical Exchange Meetings (TEMs) as required. The Principal Platform Engineer / Linux would be involved with development, implementation of traditional compute/network/storage systems and related deployments, as well as support improving the program platform’s over-arching design through new emerging technologies. This includes existing operating systems and existing server hardware designs, as well as supporting the design and development of new modernized system architectures. Note This position is based in Aurora CO, and work will be performed at a Colorado Springs Facility requiring weekly travel to the customer site for activities and possible on call support/overtime.

Requirements

  • Typically requires BS/BA Degree in Science, Technology Engineering Math (STEM) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or Physics and a minimum of 8 years of related work experience
  • Experience with Agile Development Methodologies (E.g. scrum, SAFe)
  • Experience with VMware
  • Experience with programming languages (E.g. Python, Java, Ruby, Bash, C++, C#, Go)
  • Current TS/SCI issued security clearance is required day 1. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Linux LDAP for creating Linux based accounts and managing roles and permissions
  • Experience with Linux Bash scripting for task automation and management of existing scripts
  • Experience with modernization technologies such as Ansible, Kubernetes, Docker, Rancher etc
  • Experience with Windows & Windows Server OS
  • Experience with Networks; SAN/NAS designs and implementation
  • Experience with Cisco IOS / Fiber Switch Familiarity
  • Experience with Cisco Server Hardware / ILO Remote Management, Sun Microsystems Server Management

Responsibilities

  • You will leverage company and industry with the best practices and capabilities to develop and communicate implementation, of infrastructure solutions
  • You will maintain existing systems through Linux Based Tools and manage the COTS stack on the system to support program needs
  • You will assist in training other Jr engineers to support the Program / team as needed to support program Operations
  • You will assist with integration of the selected platform provisioning tool such as VMWare
  • You will be the focal point for the equipment room (lab) to ensure that all computer network and storage resources are properly allocated and maintained for the program’s use
  • You will ensure that the COTS stack and versioning is consistent across the platform; and will work with the team to make updates as necessary
  • You will travel to customer sites to assist with system updates and deliveries when necessary
