About The Position

Join our dynamic team as a Safety & Health Professional supporting NextEra Energy's Power Generation Division. Based in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida (with an additional location option in Story County, IA), you'll play a pivotal role in safeguarding our workforce across 350+ renewable energy sites including wind, solar, fossil, and battery storage facilities. What You'll Do: In this fast-paced role, you'll strategically deploy safety resources and champion our safety culture with considerable autonomy. You'll drive compliance initiatives, conduct field assessments, deliver impactful presentations, and leverage data analytics to continuously improve our safety processes. Building strong partnerships with external regulatory agencies and internal operational teams will be essential to your success. Your expertise will guide key strategic initiatives as you lead safety tactical teams and provide technical guidance on critical procedures. You'll mentor colleagues through safety coaching and training while conducting thorough injury analyses to recommend actionable improvements that strengthen our safety management systems. What We're Looking For: We're seeking a candidate with demonstrated experience in electric power generation, transmission, and distribution, or comparable industrial environments. Your deep understanding of OSHA regulations (29 CFR 1910.269, 1926), ANSI, and NESC standards will be invaluable. The ideal candidate brings proven leadership in safety program development, training delivery, and incident investigations. You're an effective communicator who can engage diverse audiences—from frontline workers to executive leadership—both in-person and virtually. Your technical writing skills complement your proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other digital platforms. We value self-starters who can influence cross-functional teams and external stakeholders while identifying field hazards and providing practical mitigation strategies. Industrial hygiene experience is a welcomed plus. Travel & Qualifications: This role involves up to 25% travel to PGD renewable sites across the U.S. and occasionally Canada—perfect for those who enjoy variety in their work environment.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in electric power generation, transmission, and distribution, or comparable industrial environments
  • Deep understanding of OSHA regulations (29 CFR 1910.269, 1926), ANSI, and NESC standards
  • Proven leadership in safety program development, training delivery, and incident investigations
  • Effective communicator who can engage diverse audiences—from frontline workers to executive leadership—both in-person and virtually
  • Technical writing skills complement your proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other digital platforms
  • Self-starters who can influence cross-functional teams and external stakeholders while identifying field hazards and providing practical mitigation strategies
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field (Safety Engineering/Management or Occupational Health preferred) plus 2+ years in the energy/utility sector, OR a minimum of 8 years of experience (preferably a minimum of 5 years of safety experience plus 3 years other applicable experience)
  • 4+ years Experience
  • 4+ years Supervisor/Management Experience
  • High School Grad / GED
  • Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience

Nice To Haves

  • Industrial hygiene experience is a welcomed plus.
  • CSP and/or CIH certifications are highly valued.

Responsibilities

  • Provides regulatory interpretation of OSHA regulations
  • Identifies key strategic initiatives and leads safety tactical teams to provide technical guidance on procedures and processes to assure employee safety and compliance with OSHA regulations
  • Provides onsite safety coaching, training, and leadership
  • Performs injury analysis and recommends corrective actions
  • Recommends enhancements for safety management system
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
