Our business is growing significantly as the market demands reliable medical devices which look and feel more like consumer devices. We are looking for a Principal Paralegal. This position is an exciting opportunity to work with Medtronic's Diabetes business. Medtronic has announced its intention to separate the Diabetes division to promote future growth and innovation within the business and reallocate investments and resources across Medtronic, subject to applicable information and consultation requirements. This separation provides our team with a bold opportunity to unleash our potential, enabling us to operate with greater speed and agility. As a separate entity, we anticipate leveraging increased investments to drive meaningful innovation and enhance our impact on patient care.

  • Manage patent portfolios independently.
  • Prepare and file formalities, such as assignments, new application filings, and responses.
  • Work with outside counsel and foreign agents.
  • Gather discovery materials and manage case files for litigation matters.
  • Assist with trademark specimen collection.
  • Requires a Baccalaureate degree or advanced degree with relevant experience.
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience or 5 years with an advanced degree.
  • Mastery of a specialty area and full knowledge of industry practices.
  • Comprehensive understanding of intellectual property practices and procedures.
  • Broad knowledge of project management.
  • Extensive experience with U.S. and foreign patent filing and prosecution processes.
  • Proficiency in managing docketing systems and ensuring compliance with deadlines.
  • Strong knowledge of invention disclosure processes and systems.
  • Familiarity with trademark filing, prosecution, and maintenance.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
