The Principal Oracle DBA at Publix Super Markets, Inc. is responsible for supporting and maintaining databases that are critical to the business operations of the company. This role involves working closely with other technology teams to implement solutions that meet business requirements, ensuring optimal database performance, and providing leadership for various database initiatives. The position is hybrid, requiring on-site presence in Lakeland, FL for 8 days per month.

  • Ensures databases are tuned for optimal performance.
  • Provides on-call support responsibilities.
  • Performs problem determination and resolution for database related problems.
  • Ensures recoverability and adequate disaster recovery of databases.
  • Supports development teams for enhancements, troubleshooting, performance tuning and issue resolution.
  • Performs database patching and upgrades.
  • Performs database capacity planning.
  • Ensures databases comply with security benchmarks and standards.
  • Provides project leadership for various database initiatives.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or an analytical discipline, or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years' experience managing and administering Oracle databases in a large enterprise environment.
  • 3+ years' experience managing very large Oracle databases in a high transaction volume environment.
  • 5+ years' experience supporting Oracle 19c databases on RAC/ASM.
  • 5+ years' experience implementing and supporting Exadata X-8/X-9.
  • 5+ years' experience configuring Oracle Enterprise Manager.
  • 5+ years' experience implementing and maintaining Oracle Data Guard.
  • 5+ years' experience working on Unix/Linux Operating System and UNIX File Systems.
  • 5+ years' experience with SQL performance tuning using tools such as Oracle's Diagnostic and Tuning Packs.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining Cloud-related technologies and databases such as Snowflake and Databricks.
  • Application development experience including development of complex PL/SQL packages.
  • Experience supporting Db2/HANA database environment.
