Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Principal or Sr. Principal Non Destructive Inspection Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Palmdale, CA within the Palmdale Vehicle Engineering organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and at least 5 years of experience, a Master's Degree in STEM with 3 years of experience, or a PhD Degree with no experience for Principal Engineer.
  • Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and at least 8 years of experience, a Master's Degree in STEM with 6 years of experience, or a PhD Degree with 3 years of experience for Sr Principal Engineer.
  • Must have an American Society for Non-destructive Testing (SNT) LV III in multiple methods.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret or Top Secret Clearance as well as Program Special access prior to start.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, research, and specify Non-destructive inspection tools and methodologies and their related application processes for use in bonded composite structures, metallics, systems and subsystems.
  • Apply principles of chemistry, physics, and material science to investigate material issues and provide solutions.
  • Work in a team environment with other engineering and quality organizations performing detailed technical reviews of specifications, inspection plans, and standard developments.
  • Provide technical and engineering support to the NDT department.
  • Develop NDT procedures and techniques.
  • Train NDT personnel.
  • Research and develop new inspection methods for production inspection.
  • Assist in DCMA and internal audits.
