Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add Principal OR Sr Principal Electronics Engineer - Optical Sensors to our Optical Sensor Team in Palmdale, CA or San Diego (Rancho Bernardo), CA. This position will be in our Avionics Integration Organization. The ideal candidate will have a background in one or more of the following: complex electronics engineering systems, electro-optical sensors, and/or sensor performance validation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline and 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline and 1 year of related engineering experience
  • Demonstrated experience working with payload systems
  • Experience with systems integration - specifically hardware and software integration
  • Supplier management experience
  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Current applicable Special Program Access
  • Experience with electro-optical sensors
  • Software Discrepancy Report tracking experience

Responsibilities

  • Support program planning, sensor operational requirements, and system verification requirements
  • Serve as Supplier Management Lead; support program milestone planning, reviews, and execution
  • Facilitate new software implementations, updates for IETMs, ICDs, and specifications/coordination with system test team activities
  • Contribute to high-visibility activities and have opportunities to periodically demonstrate capabilities to high value customers
  • Coordination of anomalies with NG engineering and supplier Subject Matter Experts
  • Review of service bulletins and training for new software upgrades
  • Review of new NG and supplier generated Discrepancy Reports and tracking existing Discrepancy Reports, as new analyses become available
