About The Position

BHP is seeking a high-performing and technically grounded Principal Operational Readiness professional to lead and deliver readiness activities for the Jansen Project in Saskatchewan—one of the most significant potash developments globally. This role is not about oversight from the sidelines; it’s about being embedded in the work, actively closing gaps, and ensuring a safe, efficient, and fully integrated transition from project delivery into operations.

As a Process Engineer with a strong foundation in scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and change control, you will play a critical role in driving operational readiness outcomes—not as part of a PMO, but as a key delivery leader. You will work across disciplines to resolve facility handover challenges, ensure systems and people are ready, and embed sustainable practices that support long-term operational excellence.

Requirements

• A qualified Process Engineer with proven experience in operational readiness, project delivery, or operational leadership within mining, resources, or heavy industry.
• Strong working knowledge of potash mill operations and/or underground mining, with a deep understanding of production systems, equipment, and safety protocols.
• Demonstrated capability in scheduling, budgeting, and risk management, with a track record of driving alignment between technical planning and operational execution.
• Experienced in management of change (MoC) processes, ensuring safe and structured transitions across project and operational phases.
• Skilled in leading complex, cross-functional initiatives in dynamic environments, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
• Strategic thinker with a practical, execution-focused mindset and a commitment to continuous improvement.
• Proficient in leveraging digital tools and dashboards to track readiness progress, support data-informed decision-making, and ensure transparency across teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and execution of the Operational Readiness strategy for Jansen Stage 1 and future phases, ensuring alignment with business and operational objectives.
• Act as a high-performing, hands-on Process Engineer within the OR team—able to dissect complex systems, identify interdependencies, and break down large assets into manageable components to support milestone-based prioritization and execution.
• Serve as the delivery engine of Operational Readiness, not a PMO—driving tangible outcomes, accountability, and progress across readiness workstreams.
• Proactively close gaps in facility handover by engaging directly in system readiness, documentation, and operational integration activities.
• Facilitate cross-functional integration of readiness activities across operations, maintenance, technology, HSE, and projects to ensure seamless transition into operations.
• Support and coordinate Operation Completion Certification (OCC) activities, including asset verification, system functionality, and documentation readiness for safe handover.
• Identify and manage readiness risks, gaps, and improvement opportunities through structured assessments and stakeholder engagement.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners to deliver readiness plans, tools, and processes that support safe and stable operations.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and technical depth to readiness teams, fostering a culture of delivery, capability development, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure readiness deliverables are tracked, reported, and validated through structured tools and dashboards, enabling transparent progress monitoring and informed decision-making.
