JOB SUMMARY The Principal Engineer’s (PE) main responsibilities include leading and overseeing the successful execution of key customer projects. Duties include maintaining and driving key customer technical roadmaps, prioritizing projects, driving projects to completion and ensuring alignment with strategic objectives, and driving project performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in sciences and/or engineering field with minimum 10 years of experience comprised of but not limited to critical parts cleaning, process engineering, application engineering, R&D, equipment engineering, or a combination of these areas, OR PhD and a minimum of 5 years’ related experience. Semiconductor experience a major plus.
  • SPC Training is required
  • Knowledge of and practical application of Quality Engineering principles and Quality tools and methods, including, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Control Plans, Problem Solving Methodologies like Root Cause Analysis (RCA) & 8D/CAPA, Gauge Repeatability and Reproducibility Study (GR&R)
  • Knowledge and application of Metrology Techniques including, mechanical measurements systems, measurement techniques and process capability studies.
  • Ability to design appropriate inspection methods to ensure product manufacturability is feasible.
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Skilled in SPC (Statistical Process Control) and Process Capability using JMP or similar software
  • Detail-oriented with developed organizational and time management skills
  • Must possess the abilities to multitask and work well under pressure.
  • Must possess strong reading, communication, and comprehension abilities. Must be able to read, comprehend, and generate internal documents such as work order travelers, SOPs, inventory records, state and local regulations, and maintain internal logs and general company records in a clear concise manner. Brainstorming and bringing new ideas to the table are an essential part of the job.
  • Skilled in analytical and advanced mathematics
  • Work with common software like MS-Office, Visio, FileMaker pro etc. and highly proficient in excel.
  • Must posses strong verbal communication skill, as this position will present often to major customers and to internal management.
  • Employee will be trained in, and is to follow and lead by example, all general safety requirements of Pentagon Technologies as well as specific safety regulatory requirements
  • Must be able to function well in an office environment. Must have the ability to travel to the various Pentagon Technologies Facilities within the continental US and international as required. Must be able to travel to Vendor and Customer facilities within the continental US as required.
  • Must pass Company required screening tests. The employee is regularly required to sit and stand, reach with hands and arms and perform light routine office work, which includes computer workstation usage.

Nice To Haves

  • ASQ Certification, Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing certification are a plus
  • Semiconductor experience a major plus.

Responsibilities

  • Customer Technical Roadmaps:
  • Lead and oversee the development, maintenance and execution of key customer technology roadmaps
  • Assure alignment between development and customer technology roadmaps
  • Manage and deliver customer projects within scope, schedule and budget
  • Ensure alignment of customer projects with strategic objectives.
  • Technical Expertise:
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance in the design, development, and implementation of customer projects.
  • Work jointly with key customers to assure alignment of technical solutions.
  • Project Management:
  • Manage and oversee multiple integration projects simultaneously, ensuring on-time and within-budget delivery.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams including Production/Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Customer Engagement, Customer Service, and Development Engineering to ensure implementation.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and system optimizations.
  • Implement best practices in systems integration and contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes.
  • Identify opportunities where Pentagon can improve current products and services to the customer or to bring new products and services to the customer
  • Collaboration and Communication:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for key customer technical support.
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders.
  • Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving:
  • Identify and mitigate customer technical risks and issues.
  • Provide technical support and expertise to resolve complex engineering challenges.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Ensure all integration activities are well-documented and maintain detailed records.
  • Prepare and present regular status reports to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Prepare and present status reports, updates, roadmaps, and technical presentations to key customers.
  • Ability to work with Pentagon systems to document, manage and report development projects, quality issues and engineering change orders.
  • Ability to use JMP or other statistical software.
  • Knowledge and experience developing, implementing and analyzing DOE’s.
