About The Position

Collins Aerospace is seeking Senior Network Engineer for a position in Largo, Florida. Due to the applicable duties, this position requires 100% onsite employee status. The Network Engineer position implements network security and information assurance solutions for program and development systems based upon system level requirements, architecture models, and engineering design documents using a defense-in-depth approach on trusted products. This position will involve maintenance, installation, testing, and general support for network infrastructure. The ability and know-how to do basic/advanced troubleshooting, including testing during and after implementation. A solid understating of networking fundamentals is required, and how these fundamental technologies are used in a LAN, MAN or WAN architecture.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of relevant professional experience (excluding internships). In absence of a degree, 12+ years of relevant experience is required.
  • Expert-level understanding of computer, network, and security systems in enterprise and DoD environments.
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
  • Must be able to attain and maintain a DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (Security+ or CISSP preferred).
  • Active and transferable TS/SCI U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Extensive experience with Juniper SRX, EX, QFX or Cisco equivalent series routers and switches in secure enterprise deployments.
  • Experience designing and accrediting secure DoD network environments.
  • Experience with multi-platform environments including Windows, UNIX, and LINUX.
  • Deep understanding of network engineering fundamentals including OSI layers, IP addressing, subnetting, TCP/IP stack, VLANs, DHCP, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), multicast, QoS, and segmentation strategies.
  • Experience leading zero-trust architecture implementations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, architecture, configuration, and lifecycle management of complex physical and virtual network environments.
  • Serve as the technical authority for enterprise network infrastructure, providing Tier 3/4 escalation support for highly complex and mission-critical issues.
  • Architect and implement secure, high assurance/high availability network solutions in accordance with DoD and IC requirements.
  • Lead the implementation, validation, and continuous compliance of Router, Switching, firewall, and related DISA STIGs across enterprise environments.
  • Define system/component performance metrics, interface requirements, and capacity planning strategies; proactively identify scalability improvements.
  • Architect and manage Type 1 encryption device deployments, including integration into enterprise secure enclaves.
  • Lead network performance monitoring initiatives; capture, analyze, report, and present findings to technical leadership and stakeholders.
  • Provide technical oversight and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers; establish engineering best practices and standards.
  • Evaluate, select, integrate, and support Commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) and trusted products within secure network environments.
  • Design and implement secure Junos-based routing architectures and appliances in high assurance environments.
  • Architect and oversee implementation of complex virtualized network infrastructures and segmentation strategies.
  • Develop, review, and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs), engineering documentation, and configuration management standards.
  • Lead and defend system change requests, architectural review boards, and configuration control boards.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for systemic hardware/software issues and implement enterprise-level corrective actions.
  • Oversee documentation of network configurations, architecture diagrams, installation procedures, and operational runbooks.
  • Lead design and sustainment of enterprise VoIP solutions utilizing Cisco Call Manager platform.
  • Partner with cybersecurity teams to lead compliance audits, vulnerability assessments, remediation efforts, and accreditation activities (ATO lifecycle support).
  • Interface directly with customers and stakeholders to translate mission requirements into secure, scalable network designs.
  • Provide strategic input to long-term network modernization and technology refresh planning.
