What you’ll do: AT&T’s Global Software & Product Delivery organization is seeking a Network Data Modernization Engineer to code, automate, and enable enterprise‑level tools and workflows that help developers deliver secure, high‑quality software. Join our team and help drive a better developer experience, greater agility, and stronger technology across AT&T. In this role, you will also support large‑scale broadband network transformation and data modernization initiatives, modernizing network data platforms, enabling automation, and partnering across teams to improve broadband delivery and operational outcomes. Lead and support broadband network architecture for large‑scale network transformation and data modernization initiatives. Analyze, map, and modernize data from legacy broadband OSS and inventory systems into a PostgreSQL‑based target data model. Design and execute data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and data lineage across broadband domains. Partner with broadband engineering, planning, construction, and operations teams to validate designs, resolve issues, and support full lifecycle modernization. Provide long‑term ownership of broadband network data quality, architecture decisions, and production systems.

Requirements

  • Strong expertise in broadband telecom networks and OSS environments, including architecture, operations, and data flows across access, transport, and core.
  • 7+ years hands‑on experience with broadband network technologies such as fiber, xPON (GPON/XGS‑PON), DWDM/ROADM, routers, switches, OLTs, ONTs, DSLAMs, IPAG, and NTE.
  • Familiarity with AT&T broadband systems and legacy OSS platforms, including LMC, GRANITE‑LS, TIRKS, CANOPI, A&AI, VNC, NISE‑Core, INSTAR, WALDO/FRVT, and FESRA.
  • Advanced SQL experience analyzing and transforming large‑scale network and inventory datasets.
  • Strong analytical and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across engineering, architecture, planning, and operations teams.
  • Ability to read, write, and adapt code to solve practical workflow, integration, and data automation problems.
  • Experience integrating APIs and building automation to support platforms, tools, and operational processes.
  • Curiosity about new technologies and a drive to identify more efficient and scalable solutions.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills, including managing multiple requests, communicating status, and escalating risks or blockers early.
  • Comfort working with minimal supervision, taking ownership of deliverables, and collaborating with diverse stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced SQL expertise, including complex query development, performance tuning, and working with large‑scale relational datasets (e.g., PostgreSQL).
  • Experience developing GitHub Actions workflows at enterprise scale.
  • Exposure to infrastructure‑as‑code (Terraform, ARM templates) in Microsoft Azure environments.
  • Understanding of DevSecOps, shift‑left security concepts, or developer productivity initiatives.
  • Demonstrated interest in or experience using AI developer tools (such as GitHub Copilot) to improve engineering efficiency.
