About the position

Wells Fargo is seeking a Principal Network Architect (Principal Engineer) who is responsible for Solution Architecture and Governance across the Secured Network Services Product Line which includes App Hosting Network (DC, B2B, Internet), Network Services, Telecom and Workforce Access. The CTO Architecture team focuses on driving product direction through the creation of solution architectures and archetypes. This role is accountable for application portfolio management and lifecycle management of CTO applications as well as leading cross functional teams in creating business value solutions and influencing executives as well as engineers. This role will work in a challenging, fast paced, and highly technical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as a subject matter expert to the organization for network infrastructure architecture.
  • Act as an advisor to leadership to develop or influence applications, network, information security, database, operating systems, or web technologies for highly complex business and technical needs across multiple groups.
  • Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking.
  • Translate advanced technology experience, an in-depth knowledge of the organizations tactical and strategic business objectives, the enterprise technological environment, the organization structure, and strategic technological opportunities and requirements into technical engineering solutions.
  • Provide vision, direction, and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommends innovations that enhance operations or provide a competitive advantage to the organization.
  • Strategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership.
  • Development and Maintenance of architecture solutions such as reference architecture, white paper, product strategy, product to services roadmap.
  • Advocate and define architectural vision for Wells Fargo's network environment.
  • Design, configure and implement fully automated workflow for provisioning and maintaining network services on-premises using infrastructure as a code solution integrated with common control planes.
  • Provides leadership and mentoring to Architects and engineers to grow architecture talent.
  • Lead strategic planning and architectural planning for infrastructure technologies.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
  • 7+ years of network engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
  • 7+ years of network infrastructure architecture experience in data center design and modernizing technology infrastructure landscape.
  • 3+ years of experience researching new technologies, performing proof-of-concepts, and recommending solutions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proven track record in enabling developer tooling and capabilities to advance developer portals, CI/CD orchestration, QTE frameworks and application integration.
  • Demonstrable experience in Data Center migration and related tooling.
  • Well versed in modern networking constructs such as data center spine/leaf, network segmentation (macro and micro), zero trust, carrier neutral facilities and colo, internet, b2b, vpn, cloud proxy, next generation firewall, content delivery network, global backbone, sd-wan, ipv4, ipv6, ntp and branch wi-fi.
  • Networking specific certifications, e.g. Arista, Cisco, F5.
  • Hands on knowledge to with Arista, Cisco spine leaf to include fabric overlay protocol such as vxlan.
  • Hands on knowledge with AVI load balancing, Infoblox IPAM and Illumio Micro segmentation.
  • Familiar and hands-on experience with infrastructure as code via CI/CD and automation tools like Terraform, Ansible, Packer.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience working in an agile, product-oriented structure.
  • Ability to interact with all levels with the organization.
  • Strong comprehension within the network, compute and storage domains.
