We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated Modeling & Simulation / Operations Research Analyst to support critical national security missions. In this role, you will partner with operational stakeholders to develop and apply advanced modeling, simulation, and analytical tools—integrating mathematics, physics, engineering, and programming—to generate actionable insights for mission and sponsor needs. You will tackle complex, real-world problems at the intersection of technology and national security while expanding your skills through hands-on work. This position is being posted externally as part of a targeted hiring pilot focused on building future capability and is not associated with a current project opening.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
  • Degree in relevant field (e.g., Systems Engineering, Operations Research, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Aerospace Engineering).
  • Experience with developing and applying physics-based modeling and simulation tools to address research questions.
  • Proven leadership experience building and mentoring cross-disciplinary teams to develop mission-aligned solutions for national security challenges through collaboration, modeling standards, and mission engineering methods
  • Experience in shaping and executing complex DoD and classified sponsor mission outcomes.
  • Success in setting and meeting strategic objectives and advancing short and long-term program goals.
  • Experienced in presenting analysis results to senior government leadership, stakeholders, and non-technical audiences, while bridging operational teams with technical experts to deliver mission-focused solutions.
  • Experience with operational analysis tools like AFSIM, STK, NGTS, STORM, MATLAB
  • Demonstrated expertise in programming languages and applications such as C/C++, Java, Julia, Python, MATLAB, or Mathematica
  • Active DoD Secret clearance, with eligibility for TS/SCI (per the U.S. Government’s eligibility requirements, you must be a U.S Citizen to be considered for a security clearance)
  • This position requires a minimum of 4 days a week on-site.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with data analysis and data visualization tools or environments.
  • Experience in mission engineering, including interpreting and analyzing mission threads
  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance with access to Secure Compartmented Information (TS/SCI).

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex development, validation, and application of modeling and simulation tools by providing technical expertise and support.
  • Direct multidisciplinary teams to refine methodologies and address technical challenges.
  • Lead the development of project strategies by identifying and recommending innovative techniques and tools to improve modeling and simulation capabilities.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to senior-level stakeholders to ensure alignment with mission goals.
  • Foster collaboration across teams to enhance the effectiveness and scalability of modeling and simulation initiatives
  • Mentor staff to ensure effectiveness and scalability of modeling and simulation initiatives.
