About The Position

Are you interested in building large-scale distributed infrastructure for the cloud? Oracle’s Cloud Infrastructure team is building Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IAAS) technologies that operate at high scale in a broadly distributed multi-tenant cloud environment. Our customers run their businesses on our cloud, and our mission is to provide them with industry leading compute, storage, networking, database, security, and an ever expanding set of foundational cloud-based services. As part of this effort, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure's Object Storage Service team is looking for a very hands-on, senior engineer with the expertise and passion in solving difficult problems in distributed systems, large scale storage, and highly available services. These are exciting times for the service - we are growing fast, and delivering on innovative, enterprise class features to satisfy the most demanding object storage system workloads for our customers. An engineer at any level can have significant technical and business impact. As a technical leader in the Object Storage you will own the software design and development for major components and features of the service. You should have a deep understanding of the object storage systems, key-value stores and massively scaled cloud services. You have architected and executed on highly visible and mission critical projects, bringing your technical expertise to bear. You should be both, a rock solid coder, and a distributed systems generalist. You should be able to dive deep into any part of the stack as well as design broad distributed system interactions. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn. In this senior role you will be expected to drive technical collaboration between teams. Junior engineers in the team will be looking to you for technical mentorship.

Requirements

• 8-10+ years experience delivering and operating large scale, highly available distributed systems.
• Deep knowledge of storage systems, databases / key-value stores, and distributed persistence technologies.
• Strong knowledge of Java and experience with scripting languages such as Python, Perl, etc.
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems.
• Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
• Experience building a multi-tenant, virtualized infrastructure is a strong plus.
