About The Position

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc. As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, debugging or designing of software applications or operating systems. Provide technical leadership to other software developers. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet changing needs. Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 8 years of software engineering or related experience. Requirements

8+ years distributed cloud engineering experience in a software development environment
Experience developing service-oriented architectures and web services security solutions
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information in a clear, concise manner to all audiences
Excellent in making high impact judgement calls during a large scale operational events
Experience working with various Network Virtualization technologies
Strong knowledge of Linux networking constructs
Software-based packet forwarding experience
Experience working with fast and large scale read/write intensive distributed systems
Understand fundamental network protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, and etc
Proficient at programming in C++ and Python
Proficient with Linux and experienced with shell scripting languages
Bachelors in computer science and engineering or related engineering fields

Nice To Haves

Deep understanding of object-oriented design and SDK development, specifically within a cloud environment
Familiarity and understanding of distributed computing and cloud-based platforms.
Understanding of cross-functional platform feature areas in cloud platforms.
Masters / PhD degree in Computer Science or related engineering fields

Responsibilities

As a member on the Dataplane team, you will design and develop major core components of Oracle’s Virtual Cloud Network.
You will be responsible for delivering high-speed packet processing architectures and other distributed systems that provide networking features such as TCP/UDP packet processing, access controls, metrics, and monitoring dashboards.

Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment.
