About The Position

This role involves designing, developing, troubleshooting, and debugging software programs for databases and cloud services, with a specific focus on new extensions to SQL. The position requires implementing data structures and algorithms to enhance query performance and working on Machine Learning algorithms to automate query processing, including features like automated result cache, partitioning, clustering, and zonemaps. As a member of the software engineering division, the individual will actively participate in the definition, design, implementation, and evangelization of new database execution features. The role also includes analyzing and improving the performance and scalability of these features. The work is complex and research-centric, demanding advanced technical and problem-solving skills, particularly in the efficient execution of SQL queries. As a leading individual contributor, the Principal Member of Technical Staff will also be responsible for providing direction and mentorship.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases and cloud services with emphasis on new extensions to SQL
Implement data structures and algorithms to accelerate query performance
Work on Machine Learning algorithms that improve automation of query processing like automated result cache, automated partitioning, automated clustering and zonemaps
Take an active role in the definition, design, implementation, and evangelization of new database execution features
Analyze the performance and scalability of the features and improve them
Provide direction and mentorship
