We are looking for a talented Principal Mechanical Engineer to join the Nordson EFD product design team. In this role you will be responsible for designing, developing, and debugging mechanical hardware on electro-mechanical systems used in precision fluid dispensing for advanced manufacturing processes and medical fluid handling. You will work on complex hardware-software interaction problems that require strong analytical and data driven approaches to make our products smarter, connected, and intelligent.

Requirements

  • 8 years’ experience in electro-mechanical product development.
  • Strong analytical skills and engineering fundamentals in solid mechanics, materials, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, mechanism design (using 3D CAD Solidworks), and manufacturing processes.
  • Expertise in running and analyzing FEA/CFD.
  • Have creatively and collaboratively solved problems with experience in failure analysis, root cause investigation, Design of Experiments and FMEA.
  • Ability to craft clear engineering documentation (2D drawings, standard operating procedures, ECOs)
  • Strong communications skills and demonstrated ability to collaborate with a global team.
  • Bachelors in Mechanical engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design of electro-mechanical actuators, sensors, machined/molded/sheet-metal components and overall packaging on our products taking it from concept to production launch.
  • Work with external vendors and partners to develop new engineering analysis methodologies, optimize designs and augment internal capabilities.
  • Independently perform tolerance analysis, run FEA and create design of experiments using scientific methods.
  • Create design verification and validation plans, oversee execution of tests, analyze results, debug failures, and implement corrective actions.
