Department Overview: The Air Defense Ground Equipment Mechanical Design Department is responsible for the mechanical design, development, and integration of critical defense platform systems. This includes radar and communications shelters, electronic subsystems, launchers, hardware integration, and system interconnects. Role is an On-Site role in Tewksbury, MA/Andover, MA

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years’ experience.
  • Experience spanning concept development, detailed design, transition to production, and sustainment.
  • Experience in mechanical design, material selection, and mfg processes.
  • Experience in CAD design tools, ProE and CREO, including Large Assembly Management.
  • Experience with Product Data Management (PDM) systems
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Ability to obtain INTERIM U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or related hardware systems field
  • Design and integration of electronic/shelter assemblies and power distribution equipment
  • Troubleshooting electromechanical systems
  • Experience with interconnects, cables, harnesses, and CNC
  • Proficiency in ASME Y14.5 GD&T
  • Structural design and analysis experience
  • Understanding of manufacturing systems and electromechanical production environments
  • Experience in cross-functional IPT collaboration and engineering risk/proposal management
  • Familiarity with EVM/EAC and willingness to travel (~10%)

Responsibilities

  • Perform ME design, development, and documentation of components, subassemblies, and major end items
  • Oversee small to mid-sized cross-functional engineering teams as the technical execution lead across all phases—from proposal generation and program initiation
  • Serve as the technical focal point for mechanical or cross-functional teams
  • Provide support for product integration with domestic and international factories and suppliers.
  • Collaborate with engineering and non-engineering disciplines, and suppliers, to resolve technical challenges
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while ensuring schedule, cost, and technical commitments are met.
  • Support and participate in design peer reviews, and conduct trade studies
  • Apply ME knowledge to solve problems in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering growth and knowledge sharing within the team.
