SAE International is seeking a dynamic and strategic Principal Marketing Specialist to lead marketing efforts for SAE’s Engineering Events product line, including conferences, symposia, and tradeshows across the mobility sector. The idea candidate will develop and execute integrated marketing strategies that drive event awareness, registration, exhibitor and sponsor engagement, and portfolio growth. This role requires a blend of strategic planning, creative thinking, and hands on experience to clearly communicate the value of SAE events to target audiences and stakeholders.

  • Act as the primary marketing liaison for the Events product line, working closely with event management and content development to align event marketing with organizational goals.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the marketing agency, ensuring alignment with SAE’s strategic objectives and providing direction for engagement and revenue-driven campaigns.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive, multi-channel marketing plans for assigned events within the portfolio.
  • Own campaign strategy that drives attendance, exhibitor and sponsor leads, and repeat engagement across priority markets an segments.
  • Create and oversee compelling marketing materials and manage digital campaigns across email, social media, paid advertising, and nurture journeys that support all stages of the event lifecycle.
  • Use market insights, competitive intelligence, and performance data to shape event marketing strategies, refine audience targeting, and optimize campaign performance. Regularly report on key performance indicators and make data-informed recommendations.
  • Manage budgets to ensure efficient resource allocation and campaign effectiveness.
  • Strong active-listening skills to accurately identify and address stakeholder needs.
  • Exceptional project management abilities, capable of handling multiple concurrent event campaigns with efficiency.
  • Creative thinker with a results-oriented mindset focused on measurable outcomes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with and present to all stakeholders, including senior leadership.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field.
  • 6 years of experience in marketing, preferably within a B2B, event, or membership based organization.
  • 6 years of experience marketing conferences, tradeshows, or technical events.
  • Proven experience in developing and executing successful integrated marketing strategies and campaigns.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing channels, including social media, email marketing, content marketing, and paid media.
  • Proficiency in marketing analytics tools and the ability to interpret data to drive decision-making.
  • Preferred experience working within Workfront, Salesforce, Marketo, or related platforms.
  • Experience marketing to engineers, technical professionals, or business decision makers in mobility is a plus.
