The Market Data Services function enables investment teams by providing compliant, cost‑effective access to financial, index, pricing, and reference data across public and private markets, while protecting the firm from licensing, audit, and regulatory risk. The team partners closely with front office, technology, procurement, legal, and finance to govern vendor relationships, data usage, and platform strategy in a complex buy‑side environment. Working here means operating at the center of investment decision‑making, gaining visibility across asset classes, influencing senior stakeholders, and delivering measurable business impact through cost control, compliance, and operational improvement.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in market data services at a buy‑side firm.
  • Strong understanding of vendor pricing models and licensing risk.
  • Knowledge of real‑time and non‑display data.
  • Knowledge of index, pricing, and reference data.
  • Knowledge of APIs, data feeds, and distribution models.
  • Familiarity with Bloomberg, FactSet, Refinitiv, and exchange data products.
  • Data‑driven and hands‑on execution style.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity and developing strong processes.
  • Ability to build credible relationships and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Clear communication across business, legal, and technology.

Responsibilities

  • Market Data Strategy You will set and execute firmwide strategy for market data platforms, exchange data, and analytics tools. You will rationalize the vendor landscape across public and private markets. You will drive standardization while supporting front‑office requirements.
  • Governance & Compliance You will enforce market data policies across investment teams and functions. You will ensure compliance with index and exchange licensing. You will own audit readiness and manage vendor and exchange audits.
  • Usage & Cost Optimization You will analyze usage and eliminate inactive users and redundant datasets. You will implement chargeback/showback models. You will partner with finance and procurement on budgeting and forecasting creating transparency into usage, costs and entitlements.
  • Operations & Delivery You will oversee entitlements, onboarding, offboarding, and service lifecycle management. You will partner with engineering on data feeds, platform integration and vendor connectivity. You will streamline processes cutting out manual or fragmented environments, delivering measurable reduction in market data spend
  • Stakeholder Influence You will act as the go‑to market data expert for investment, risk, and technology teams. You will demonstrate strong judgment to driving decision-making while supporting internal clients. You will lead cross‑functional initiatives, platform migrations, special projects and integrations.
