The Braiding and Molding Technologies (BMT) business unit is seeking a Principal Manufacturing Engineer to support a rapidly growing plastic injection molding area. This role serves as a technical leader and subject matter expert, driving business development, operational excellence and new product development initiatives. The position plays a critical role in advancing manufacturing capabilities, scaling operations and establishing world-class standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, biomedical, chemical or plastics preferred)
- Minimum of 8 years' experience in manufacturing and/or process engineering
- Minimum of 4 years' experience in plastic injection molding
Nice To Haves
- Advanced degree or certification in engineering, manufacturing, injection molding or plastics
- Six Sigma Black Belt certification
- Experience in medical device manufacturing and development
- Experience with mold tooling and part design
- Experience developing and validating measurement systems
- Strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to influence without authority
Responsibilities
- Use robust problem-solving skills and engineering first principles to solve complex technical challenges
- Coach and mentor others in structured problem-solving and process improvement methodologies
- Develop business unit new product development (NPD) strategy and guide NPD core team members
- Serve as a core team member on new product development projects
- Adapt to rapidly changing priorities while supporting operational performance
- Manage business unit-impacting projects and ensure accountability for team-level deliverables
- Apply technical expertise to improve performance, reliability and scalability while establishing world-class manufacturing standards
- Serve as a technical authority in injection molding, providing expertise for complex challenges
