In this dynamic role, you’ll play a key part in shaping the future of our Global Contract Manufacturing Platform. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you’ll collaborate with internal teams, global cross-functional partners, and contract manufacturers to ensure seamless transfers and successful launches of new programs. Your expertise will help identify and mitigate risks, drive consistency in pre-launch New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, and ensure smooth production stabilization while leading optimization projects post-launch. Based on the global support of our Contract Manufacturing partners, this role can be located anywhere in the United States. Travel typically 35% to 55% but varies based on initiatives and incumbent location.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant medical device manufacturing engineering experience or related field, or advanced degree with 5 years of relevant medical device manufacturing engineering experience or related field
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving capability
  • Demonstrated ability to work through influence, negotiation and partnering

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with or for large contract manufacturing organizations
  • Test and Tester development experience, with hardware and software
  • Experience working on a range of scale and complexity of product from large capital equipment to small, less complex consumables
  • Experience working with finished goods suppliers
  • Experience working on new product launches from early stage design evaluation to production start
  • Strong understanding of launch process requirements such PDP or equivalent
  • Strongly preferred to have project planning skills to prioritize tasks and establish framework and systems for managing areas of responsibility
  • Ability to travel 35% - 55%

Responsibilities

  • Design manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling.
  • Design arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout.
  • Design sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.
  • Adapt machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.
  • Incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan.
  • Inspect performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.
  • Develop manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques.
  • Provide guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
  • Ensure processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.
  • Identify design and process optimization opportunities to improve safety quality and cost of the product and manufacturing line.
  • Drive team accountability for process improvement and implementation, helping to communicate the importance of process development throughout the organization.
  • Proactively identify and call out risks and issues to relevant stakeholders; lead development and delivery of tactical and achievable mitigation and contingency planning.
