About The Position

Hillsboro Technical Operations (HTO) is a drug product & finished goods manufacturing organization responsible for the reliable delivery of Roche’s commercial portfolio & pipeline products. The Operations organization at HTO formulate, fill, inspect & package millions of units of life-saving medicine every year to patients around the world. Location: On-site in Hillsboro Shift: Night Shift - Sunday through Tuesday, every other Saturday - 6pm to 6:30am Position Summary In this position, you will maintain, assemble, install, troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electronic devices on manufacturing and packaging equipment. Lead or assist on major equipment overhauls and testing, repairs, and installations. Troubleshoot pumps, motors, valves, actuators, gears, piping and pneumatic systems, conveyors and robotics. Maintain and optimize mechanical drive trains and vacuum generation & distribution systems.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Technology (or equivalent education).
  • At least 8 years of hands-on experience in mechanical/electrical equipment maintenance, with a strong preference for 5+ years in a cGMP environment.
  • Relevant experience in washing, filling, conveying, sealing, packaging, inspection, or similar processes, preferably within industries such as pharmaceutical, biotechnology, nuclear, biomedical, food, cosmetics, electronics or chemicals.
  • Passion for developing and maintaining a LEAN culture that yields exceptional results for internal and external customers.

  • Ability to lift up 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
  • Perform lock-out/tag-out procedures and safely work near hazardous chemicals, high/low-temperature liquids, high-pressure systems, steam, and moving machinery/equipment.
  • You are able to successfully pass all job-related tests and certifications required for working in a cGMP, quality environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform/lead preventive maintenance, upgrades, repairs, and installations for advanced biotechnology equipment.
  • Support engineering and operations teams in designing, installing, testing, operating, and maintaining manufacturing and packaging equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair pumps, motors, valves, actuators, gears, pneumatic systems, conveyors, robotics, mechanical drive trains, and vacuum systems.
  • Diagnose issues with control components, including photo eyes, motor starters, relays, limit switches, proximity sensors, timers, solenoids, servo drives, frequency converters, linear drives, tachometers, and encoders.
  • Operate and troubleshoot electrical systems, mechanical drive systems, piping networks, and complex machinery.
  • Understand, interpret, and create engineering documents, including P&IDs (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams).
  • Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for comprehensive equipment documentation and tracking.
  • Apply knowledge of medium-to-low voltage electrical switchgear and distribution systems, and troubleshoot Delta-V, MES systems, and equipment HMIs.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance inspection readiness, productivity, and maintenance efficiency.
  • Manage and execute project tasks with a focus on delivering improvement initiatives safely and on schedule.
