The following position is to join our RTX Enterprise Services team: Role Overview: RTX is seeking a Principal Linux Administrator to support a highly virtualized Enterprise infrastructure with a focus on Linux-based systems. The role involves working under the supervision of technical team leaders in collaboration with team members across multiple sites. This role is ideal for candidates with specialized expertise in Linux system administration, a commitment to collaboration, and the ability to work in a high-security environment. This role is onsite in either McKinney, TX or Tucson, AZ. It requires an active Top Secret clearance in order to be considered.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and a minimum 5 years of experience, or an Advanced Degree and a minimum 3 years experience.
  • Experience supporting Linux operating systems in enterprise environments.
  • Experience managing VMWare virtual environments.
  • Clearance: Active Top Secret
  • Certification: Existing DoD 8570 security certification (e.g., Security X, Security+, CISSP), or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of starting.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Agile tools such as Atlassian Jira and Confluence.
  • Knowledge of security policies related to IT systems in secure environments, with a focus on Linux.
  • Proficient in performing system maintenance, installations, upgrades, and backups on Linux systems.
  • Team-oriented with strong collaboration skills across multiple sites.
  • Ability to learn and follow documented policies and standards.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and process documentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Install and manage Linux server hardware, operating systems, and software.
  • Perform software upgrades, patching, and system maintenance on Linux systems.
  • Troubleshoot issues and apply security policies specific to Linux environments.
  • Conduct information assurance testing and vulnerability mitigation for Linux systems.
  • Maintain data storage and monitor server operations.
  • Manage backup systems and provide Tier 2 support to the IT Service Desk.
  • Document processes and ensure compliance with organizational policies.
  • Provide remote support for systems across multiple locations.
