About The Position

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Principal Level Designer. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in level design to enhance the gameplay experience in our upcoming projects. As a key contributor, you will work collaboratively with various disciplines to create immersive environments that reflect the game's vision. Your insights and creativity will be crucial in ensuring that our levels are both engaging and polished, ultimately shaping how players interact with our games.

Requirements

Strong portfolio showcasing scale, pacing, and spatial design
Experience with multiplayer shooter titles and understanding shooter mechanics
10+ years of Level Design experience with at least one shipped game in Unreal Engine
Expertise in 3D design software such as Maya, Blender, or 3DS Max
Deep knowledge of shooter combat design principles
Proficient in Unreal Engine and Blueprints
Experience working with Outsource teams for level design
Ability to solve problems creatively in collaboration with others
Self-motivated and able to work independently
Willingness to travel up to 10% for team events and offsites

Responsibilities

Own gameplay-focused design work for combat maps
Collaborate with Designers, Artists, Engineers, and Animators to create compelling environments
Build and implement layouts using set game metrics with Unreal Engine
Work in Unreal Blueprints
Maintain consistent navmesh and gameplay metrics throughout our levels
Prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and communicate progress effectively
Present design ideas, obtain feedback, and iterate rapidly
Playtest and refine levels to enhance gameplay quality
Drive external/outsourced level development
Ensure proper implementation of level design assets with internal and external teams
