About The Position

What IT Business Systems contributes to Cardinal Health This function anticipates, plans, and delivers Information Technology solutions and strategies that enable operations and drive business value. The Principal, IT Business Systems will serve as the primary technology owner and strategic partner for the organization’s Manufacturing and Supply Chain. This role combines strong functional expertise, technical fluency, and business engagement. The ideal candidate will act as a trusted advisor to manufacturing, quality assurance, and supply chain leaders—ensuring system stability, high-quality enhancements, and continuous improvement that drives operational excellence. This leader will oversee solution design, development quality, roadmap alignment, and cross-functional integration—championing best practices, driving user adoption, and ensuring the Business Systems technology portfolio remains reliable, scalable assets for the enterprise. Location - Open to candidates nationwide who would work in a fully remote capacity

Requirements

  • Ideally targeting individuals who bring 10+ years’ experience with Life Sciences Manufacturing Systems, such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Manufacturing Execution System (MES), Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), Product Labeling Systems, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), and related platforms, highly preferred
  • Ideally targeting individuals with relevant work experience in sectors such as healthcare, life sciences manufacturing, pharma, R&D (highly preferred)
  • Experience leading integrations between ERP with MES, WMS, and external systems via API, EDI, and other middleware tools, preferred
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies, preferred
  • Strong experience in SAP ECC/S4, preferred
  • Strong analytical skills to diagnose root causes and optimize transportation processes
  • Ability to interpret discrete manufacturing processes and trade-related data to recommend improvements
  • Proven experience leading projects or workstreams, including planning, requirements gathering, stakeholder coordination, execution oversight, and post-implementation support
  • Strong project leadership capabilities, including managing timelines, risks, and deliverables
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to engage cross-functional teams and external partners
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and customer service orientation

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CTL, CSCP, PMP, Lean Six Sigma), a plus

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Technology Leadership: Develop and execute the long-term vision and roadmap for business systems platforms, including ERP, MES and related systems, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and industry best practices.
  • Business Systems Management: Oversee the design, configuration, testing, deployment, and maintenance of property management systems. Lead evaluation and selection of new software, modules and integrations to support evolving business needs.
  • Business Process Optimization: Partner with senior executives to identify opportunities for process improvement and digital transformation. Direct the development of workflow strategies, automation initiatives, and system enhancements to maximize efficiency and scalability.
  • Governance & Compliance: Establish and enforce standards for systems development, data integrity, security, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Ensure adherence to organizational policies and technology governance frameworks.
  • Executive Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as a key advisor to senior leadership on technology strategy, emerging trends, and system capabilities. Communicate complex technical concepts in business terms to influence decision-making.
  • Mentorship & Development: Support and mentor managers and individual contributors responsible for Business Systems and related platforms. Support talent development, succession planning, and performance management to build organizational capability.
  • Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Champion innovation by staying abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices. Lead initiatives that leverage technology to create competitive advantage and enhance customer experience.
