Requirements

  • Significant progressive experience (typically 10+ years) in Investor Relations, Equity Research, Investment Banking, Corporate Development, or Corporate Finance, with meaningful exposure to technology, industrial technology, utilities, and/or energy sectors.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Engineering, or a related field required; advanced degree (MBA) and/or CFA designation strongly preferred.
  • Deep understanding of capital markets, financial statements, valuation methodologies, and key performance metrics relevant to a technology-enabled, solutions-based business serving utility and energy customers.
  • Proven track record operating at a principal/senior level, directly supporting or advising C-level executives (CFO, CEO) on investor messaging, disclosure, and market positioning.
  • Exceptional communication skills—written, verbal, and visual—with the ability to translate complex technical, regulatory, and financial topics into clear, customer centric narratives tailored to different audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to act with high accountability and integrity in handling material non-public information and market-sensitive topics.
  • Strong executive presence and authentic interpersonal skills, with the ability to build credibility quickly with senior leadership, investors, and cross-functional partners.
  • Highly agile, comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities, multiple stakeholders, and recurring deadlines tied to earnings cycles and market events.
  • Advanced analytical skills, including proficiency with financial modeling, benchmarking, and scenario analysis, and the ability to transform data and market insights into innovative, actionable recommendations.
  • Proven collaborative approach, with experience working closely across Finance, Strategy, Legal, Sustainability/ESG, and Communications to deliver aligned and consistent external messaging.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and meet strict timelines without sacrificing quality or accuracy.

  • Direct Investor Relations leadership experience at a publicly traded technology or industrial technology company serving utilities, cities, or energy markets.
  • Sector expertise in smart grid, smart metering, grid edge intelligence, IoT platforms, distributed energy resources, or related energy transition technologies.
  • Experience standing up or significantly transforming an Investor Relations function, including implementing innovative digital tools, analytics, and engagement models.
  • Hands-on experience integrating ESG, sustainability, and impact narratives into investor materials, including familiarity with frameworks such as TCFD, SASB, and other relevant reporting standards.
  • Prior sell-side or buy-side equity analyst experience covering Utilities, Energy, Industrials, or Technology sectors.
  • Experience supporting capital markets transactions (equity or debt offerings, rating agency processes) and/or special situations (M&A, activist defense, crisis communications).
  • Global experience working with international investors and understanding of how macroeconomic, regulatory, and energy transition trends influence investor perception in the sector.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the overall investor relations strategy and execution for a global, publicly traded technology company serving utilities and energy customers, ensuring the investment narrative is customer centric and clearly linked to long-term value creation.
  • Serve as an authentic, trusted, and knowledgeable spokesperson for the company with the investment community, including institutional investors, analysts, ESG-focused investors, and rating agencies.
  • Partner closely with the CEO, CFO, Finance, Strategy, Legal, Sustainability, and Communications to develop a compelling, cohesive investment thesis that highlights the company’s innovative solutions, recurring revenue models, and differentiated position in the Utilities & Energy technology ecosystem.
  • Own the quarterly earnings process end-to-end, including: Crafting earnings call scripts, presentations, and Q&A preparation materials. Coordinating guidance frameworks and key messages grounded in accountable, data-driven storytelling. Ensuring materials are accurate, complete, and aligned across all senior leaders.
  • Proactively manage relationships with existing and prospective shareholders through collaborative engagement: investor conferences, non-deal roadshows, one-on-one meetings, and virtual events.
  • Monitor equity markets, peer performance, valuation drivers, and investor sentiment; synthesize insights into agile, actionable recommendations for executive leadership and the Board.
  • Develop and continuously improve investor-facing materials (investor presentations, fact sheets, IR website content, FAQs, and talking points) that clearly explain complex technologies, business models, and regulatory dynamics in accessible and customer centric language.
  • Establish and maintain best-in-class disclosure practices in partnership with Legal and Finance, ensuring compliance with Reg FD and other applicable regulations while maintaining authentic and transparent communication.
  • Act as a strategic advisor on capital markets activity (e.g., equity or debt offerings, rating agency interactions, M&A-related communications), providing clear investor and market perspectives rooted in accountable analysis.
  • Integrate ESG and sustainability messaging into the broader IR strategy, collaborating with Sustainability/ESG teams to articulate how the company’s solutions support grid modernization, energy transition, and decarbonization outcomes for customers.
  • Create and maintain financial and valuation models, peer benchmarking analyses, and scenario analyses to support innovative, data-driven engagement with investors and internal stakeholders.
  • Build and track KPIs for the IR function (e.g., investor mix, targeting effectiveness, sentiment indicators), and communicate progress in an open and accountable way.
  • Potentially lead and mentor junior team members and/or manage external IR, communications, or research vendors in a collaborative, high-performance manner.
