About The Position

Brii Bio is seeking a highly motivated and talented bioinformatics expert for our growing drug discovery team. The successful candidate for this position will be a bioinformatics specialist in his/her field and will play a critical role in genetic characterization and design of oligonucleotides-based therapeutics. The successful candidate will conduct bioinformatics analysis or studies to support all phases of exploratory and discovery projects and be required to work creatively and independently on a variety of computational methodologies and AI-based machine learning models to help design, screen, characterize and evaluate compounds. This role will be part of an experienced discovery team and offers the opportunity to develop new skills and obtain experience and expertise as part of a multidisciplinary pharmaceutical research team. The individual will have strong background in scientific research and organize, analyze and interpret results, come forward with recommendations and present the findings to senior personnel or in team meetings. This role will require working closely with a global discovery team to incorporate new sciences and technologies to facilitate the progression of novel preclinical candidates that allow for maximal therapeutic impact and differentiation for patients. Primary responsibilities will be oligonucleotides-based bioinformatics activities to design and execute bioinformatics studies, generate data and report results to a broad program team. Experience in structuring, processing, analyzing, and interpreting the massive amounts of data generated by NGS/WGS/GWAS/TWAS/dbSNP/GenBank/BioBank, and so on, is required. Experience with target biology and MoA exploration, sequence designation and alignment, human genetic variants identification, off-target prediction and evaluation, as well as other bioinformatics techniques and infrastructure is an advantage. The candidate must have good organizational, writing and communication abilities to communicate results and ideas with other team members including non-scientists.

Requirements

  • PhD or equivalent in computational biology, bioinformatics or a related discipline with above 10 years of post-degree experience, preferably in industry.
  • Demonstrated track record of scientific industry research or publications.
  • Expertise in performing a variety of bioinformatics tools, including data structuring, management, analysis and visualization to enable the investigation of target genes such as SNPs, pLoF/pGoF, eQTL/pQTL/sQTL, CNV, gene expression, and protein levels.
  • Knowledge with hands-on bioinformatics experience in oligonucleotides-based drug discovery is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaborate in a team-oriented environment.
  • Solid track record of completing challenging technical problems, exemplified by publication of research in high-quality scientific journals or showcases in oligonucleotide related data analysis.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills and ability to work efficiently and productively in a dynamic, scientifically rigorous, and fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with pathway analysis, network analysis, tools for analyzing biomarker signatures and potential therapeutic targets, as well as other laboratory techniques is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage bioinformatics analytical platform, data storage hub and all related research activities.
  • Set goals and meet computational and experimental bioinformatic study timelines and execute a strategy in alignment with the goals and key scientific objectives for the research.
  • Independently design, plan, and execute bioinformatic studies and analyze seq. microarray or omics data to address scientific questions.
  • Ensure all data and results are carefully documented in Brii electronic lab notebook systems and datahub.
  • Demonstrate creative ‘out of the box’ thinking to solve problems and modify experimental plans or algorithm modeling when required to achieve project goals.
  • Cooperate with I.T. team and outsourcing vendors to build a data security distributed storage center in the computer server room.
  • Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding code of conduct, data safety, appropriate handling of human genetic materials and controlled drug in accordance with the laws and regulations, where applicable.
  • Prepare, and deliver scientific presentations for internal/external use
  • Manage and collaborate with external CRO service teams.
  • Work cross-functionally in complex and fast-paced research organization.
  • Stay current with scientific literature and advancements in the field.
