Saab Inc., Land Systems division is seeking an experienced and dynamic Principal Integration, Verification and Test (IV&T) Engineer with experience in weapons and other Department of Defense (DoD) systems engineering test, production support testing, and IV&T leadership. The results-oriented candidate should be capable of taking initiative, exhibiting technical knowledge and leadership, demonstrating hands-on complex “system of systems” problem solving, multi-tasking, and providing next generation, innovative solutions, as applicable to the IV&T discipline. The candidate will work closely with the project and program leadership, other engineering disciplines, engineering leadership and other functional teams across businesses and locations. Travel is required, both domestic and international. Experience with DoD industry integration and verification engineering is a must. Currently the position is remote home office with travel; relocation will be required to Detroit, MI area within 2025, existing residency is a plus.

  • Aligns test processes with organizational goals and business objectives through the use of quantitative measures and metrics to manage the planning, execution, and reporting of IV&T activities.
  • Support company's and division strategic technical and business path by implementing new technological solutions to identified capability gaps, including integration of new technologies, specifically transfer of technology and commercial technologies.
  • Interface with project leadership, engineering, operations, business development, program capture, supply chain, quality, finance, security, export control and other relevant functions to develop and implement the most effective IV&T solutions, with considerations to schedule and budgetary constraints.
  • Through previous experience, adapt and implement the best IV&T practices; actively assist with relevant command media development and implementation.
  • Operate in a rapid challenging environment, find creative ways of breaking through barriers, and demonstrate ability to tailor existing processes to meet programmatic timelines and expectations.
  • Together with lead system engineering and system test architects, develop system test architectures, verification methods, and risk reduction strategies; identify levels of resources, in terms of personnel, materials, suppliers, and facilities, including analysis, fabrication, integration, and test.
  • Work closely with existing products' design authorities and jointly generate the best solution for given problems, as well as communicate effectively with suppliers, customers, and teammates.
  • As needed, plan, staff, organize, and lead small teams of engineering IV&T personnel.
  • Provide relevant education and share all aspects of defense systems knowledge with the team. Mentor and support engineering staff development.
  • Actively participate in proposal efforts (including whitepaper and RFI responses), technical volume generation, estimates, basis of estimates, and reviews.
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering and 20 years of experience in related field; or Master of Science in Engineering and 18 years of experience in related field.
  • Hands-on, personal experience with defense systems (missiles, munitions, and platforms), specifically land systems, including concepts of operation, architecture, design, manufacturing, integration, test, production, and life cycle sustainment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of product integration and verification cycle, including emulated spread-bench integration, computer-in-the-loop (CIL) simulations, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), software-in-the-loop (SIL) verification, and fully form-factored integrated system demonstration.
  • Working experience with DoD and industry engineering processes, procedures, requirements, tools, and practices.
  • Working knowledge of specifications, requirements verification, risk management, including working with minimum customer requirements.
  • System and subsystem integration, test planning, and test execution experience.
  • Effective communications with leadership, subordinates, and peers, both domestically and internationally.
  • Self-starter, working with minimum direction.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance (active clearance preferred).
  • International and domestic travel is required, at least 30%.
  • Experience with ground vehicle systems, their architectures, interfaces and integration requirements, both manned and unmanned.
