About The Position

As Principal, Human Resources- Americas you will coordinate the execution of high-impact people initiatives across South32's operations in North and South America in collaboration with key stakeholders. You will be instrumental in driving HR operational readiness, enabling transformation, and ensuring the successful delivery of strategic HR projects that support our workforce and business goals. You will operate with influential leadership, guiding cross-functional teams and stakeholders through complex change, while ensuring HR processes and systems are fit-for-purpose, scalable, and aligned with South32's global standards and regional needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business or other relevant field or equivalent work experience
  • 7 to 10 years' experience in a human resources role with preference given to candidates who have mining, heavy industrial operations or major capital projects experience.
  • Demonstrated experience executing human resources operational readiness programs of work.
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional HR initiatives in regional and global contexts, particularly across North and South America.
  • Deep understanding of HR systems (e.g., SAP, SuccessFactors), process design, and digital enablement.

Nice To Haves

  • SHRM or HRCI certification preferred
  • PMP, Agile, or Lean Six Sigma certifications are a plus

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate execution of Strategic HR Projects: Deliver people-related initiatives across the Americas, including process optimization, digital transformation, and workforce enablement.
  • Drive HR Operational Readiness: Ensure HR teams, systems, and processes are prepared to support business growth, transformation, and compliance across diverse jurisdictions.
  • Influence Across the Business: Build strong relationships with HR, business leaders, and functional partners to align priorities, gain buy-in, and drive adoption of new ways of working.
  • Champion Regional Integration: Balance global consistency with local relevance, ensuring HR solutions meet regulatory, cultural, and operational needs across the Americas.
  • Support Technology Enablement: Partner with IT and HR Technology teams to implement and optimize technology to support the operation of a next generation mine with technology at the forefront ensuring safe and reliable operation of the Hermosa mine and future projects or operations in the Americas.
  • Act as a Change Leader: Lead change management efforts, facilitate stakeholder engagement, and support capability building across HR and business teams.
