As a Hardware Systems Engineer you will join our Hardware and Infrastructure Engineering Team as part of our Connected Aviation Solutions business. This is an opportunity to join a team supporting the next generation Air Traffic Control (ATC) systems, as well as providing support to existing fielded systems. We are seeking an electrical/systems engineer with experience in electronic design, comfortable working with commercial off-the-shelf and custom hardware designs to achieve system requirements. This opportunity requires a combination of classic design techniques, modern electronics knowledge, and hands on laboratory skills. This is an onsite position based in Marlborough, Massachusetts.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
  • Experience completing technical documentation relating to Configuration Control, Change Management, Trade Studies, Preliminary and Detailed Design artifacts and presentations
  • Experience writing detailed verification test plans and test reports
  • Prior experience collaborating in a multi-functional environment (ex: field engineering, supply chain, suppliers, customers)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing with COTS devices
  • Knowledge of Linux and Solaris operating systems
  • Project or Team Lead experience
  • Earned Value Management (EVM) experience

Responsibilities

  • Identify potential replacement hardware candidates, conducting trade studies with potential devices, and choosing the device that best meets the requirements
  • Perform preliminary and detailed design activities
  • Conduct testing activities in the lab in support of Engineering Change Proposals. Testing includes device-level bench testing as well as integration testing in the system as a whole
  • Interface with other disciplines (Configuration Management, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Supply Chain) in support of product development
