As a Principal Hardware Systems Engineer, you will support electronic control system development programs for aerospace products. You will be responsible for solving complex design challenges within the electronic hardware systems field and be a key technical contributor in the design, development, and support of electronic control products within the Collins Aerospace Power & Controls product line.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
  • Experience in the system design and development of embedded aerospace controls is highly preferred
  • Requirements management with experience in DOORS and experience with MBSE tools and processes such as CAMEO
  • System hardware / software integration test experience using LABVIEW or Test Stand
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Aerospace Engineering is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Support electronic control system development programs to develop the controller’s design concept
  • Create design concept and architecture functional diagrams
  • Develop and maintain requirements schema showing customer requirements flow and allocation to controller functions
  • Decompose customer specifications and system level requirements into sub-system and piece part requirements and generates verification criteria and plans for the requirements
  • Drive requirements validation efforts in compliance with industry standards such as DO-254
  • Perform controller built in test coverage / testability analysis
  • Perform controller failure mode effects analysis (FMEA)
  • Analyze complex devices used in the electronic controller design and define hardware and software requirements for their use in the system
  • Develop production acceptance test requirements for electronic control products
  • Provide system level support for EMI and environmental qualification test programs
  • Provide system level support for production and customer field issues
