About The Position

Kleinfelder's Geotechnical team is looking for a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to lead its geotechnical engineering practice in Nevada. The team supports a variety of public and private clients in the areas of Transportation, Energy, Water, Facilities, and other projects. The Principal Geotechnical Engineer will be responsible for hiring, mentoring, and overseeing the technical practice of the team, as well as leading business development activities, including the development of technical scopes for proposals, schedules, and budgets for projects of various sizes.

Requirements

• 10+ years of related experience in geotechnical engineering.
• Proven experience in all aspects of geotechnical design and local issues and practices.
• Past experience in leading diverse project teams.
• Proven experience in business development opportunities and preparing proposals.
• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering; MS degree in geotechnical engineering or equivalent highly preferred.
• Nevada Professional Engineering license required.
• Minimum of 4 years of previous project management experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the geotechnical engineering practice in Nevada.
• Hire, mentor, and oversee the technical practice of the team.
• Lead business development activities including the development of technical scopes for proposals.
• Manage project schedules and budgets for various projects.
• Proactively troubleshoot and problem-solve with practical, client-focused solutions.
• Demonstrate technical expertise in geotechnics, slope stability, foundation design, and earthwork.
• Interface with the civil design team to develop and value-engineer practical grading plans.
• Develop strategic pursuits and proposals.
• Organize priorities and multi-task effectively.
• Collaborate with area leadership and project managers for effective resource delivery.
• Oversee management of projects from cradle-to-grave.
• Exhibit external focus to grow client relationships and develop business.
