About The Position

In this senior leadership role, you will architect, design, and oversee the development of advanced geospatial software solutions supporting large-scale water resources modeling and predictive analytics. You will lead enterprise hydrofabric development, integrating high-resolution topographic, hydrographic, and bathymetric datasets into cloud-based, scalable platforms. Your work will directly influence operational-quality geospatial services, supporting flood mapping and environmental forecasting. The role combines hands-on technical expertise with strategic oversight, including mentoring teams, establishing best practices, and ensuring seamless integration across geospatial data systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement automated data pipelines, leverage containerized cloud services, and continuously improve software reliability and performance. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Cartography, GIS, Computer Science, or a related field, with at least 8 years of professional experience.
  • Experience integrating high-resolution hydrographic, topographic, bathymetric, and channel shape data into geospatial systems.
  • Proficiency with geospatial datasets, raster and vector formats, coordinate reference systems (CRS), and formats such as GeoTIFF, NetCDF, and COGs.
  • Experience designing and maintaining cloud-optimized data dissemination platforms supporting operational-scale geospatial services.
  • Strong proficiency with geospatial libraries and tools, including GDAL/OGR, GeoPandas, Xarray, and Zarr.
  • Experience with large system planning, software integration, and adherence to release schedules and strategies.

Nice To Haves

  • Expertise in hydrofabric modeling, hydraulic modeling, remote sensing, CNN/RNN/LSTM deep learning for spatial data.
  • Containerization (Kubernetes, Docker, Singularity).
  • Programming in Python and R.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate enterprise hydrofabric development activities, providing technical direction for geospatial projects.
  • Architect, design, and develop scalable geospatial services using Python and formats such as STAC, Zarr, and GeoTIFFs.
  • Design, deploy, and maintain geospatial data services on cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) with containerized applications.
  • Participate in all phases of software development, including requirements analysis, system design, coding, unit testing, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to integrate hydrofabric and other geospatial datasets into operational systems.
  • Conduct research on emerging technologies to inform software development strategies and optimize application execution.
  • Mentor and guide development teams to enforce best practices, coding standards, and automated testing frameworks.
