About The Position

We are seeking an innovative and highly skilled Principal Firmware Engineer to lead the development of embedded firmware for advanced energy measurement and control products. This position involves architecting and implementing firmware solutions that integrate hardware, control systems, and signal processing to achieve high-performance and precision across various industrial applications. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including electrical, optical, and mechanical engineers, to translate system requirements into embedded firmware designs. The role offers excellent career growth and leadership opportunities within a dynamic multinational technology company.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with both bare-metal and light RTOS approaches to developing highly deterministic systems (critical for the type of sensor firmware we do)
  • Proficiency in reading schematics and ability to drive digital portions of mixed-signal designs
  • In-depth knowledge of control systems and signal processing techniques for embedded system optimization—critical to enabling precision and performance.
  • Familiarity with communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, CAN, Ethernet, USB, UART, and memory interfaces like DDR3/4.
  • Advanced expertise in microcontroller, FPGA, or SoC-based architecture (e.g., Xilinx Zynq, ARM Cortex-M or similar platforms).
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in real-time embedded firmware development utilizing C/C++.
  • Experience in designing low-level drivers and firmware solutions for applications integrating optics, photonics, or photoelectronic with energy measurement hardware.
  • A proven track record of troubleshooting and optimizing embedded firmware for diverse and challenging industrial applications.
  • B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent discipline emphasizing embedded firmware development, control systems, and signal processing.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end firmware architecture and development processes for embedded systems optimized for precision energy measurement and control.
  • Collaborate closely with electrical and optical engineers to design hardware interfaces, ensuring seamless integration with firmware and compliance with system-level requirements.
  • Drive the implementation of advanced control systems and signal processing algorithms, ensuring high levels of accuracy and reliability in product performance.
  • Decompose complex technical requirements into firmware specifications and development plans, leading cross-functional engagements to achieve targeted outcomes.
  • Perform hands-on debugging, testing, and optimization of firmware, working within hardware-in-the-loop environments to ensure design objectives are met.
  • Drive firmware integration reviews, ensuring technical excellence and alignment with manufacturing and customer-driven requirements.
  • Develop manufacturing firmware codes and automated testing systems to streamline production processes and product validation efforts.
  • Mentor and provide technical leadership to global firmware development teams, fostering collaboration and continuous innovation.
