Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Launch and Missile Defense Systems presents an excellent opportunity for a Principal Engineer Systems – Network Virtualization Engineer III (25-360) to join our team of skilled and diverse professionals. This position, located in Colorado Springs, CO, plays a vital role in supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels. Relocation assistance is not provided for this position, and the role requires on-site work with no remote options.

  • Planning, deploying, integrating, and testing upgrades to the C2BMC network at operational sites.
  • Traveling to remote locations to lead and perform network installations, independently troubleshoot, and provide status updates to Program personnel.
  • Working within an agile Scrum team and planning work based on customer requirements and program contractual terms and agreements.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field such as Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related discipline from an accredited university is preferred, along with 5 years of experience; or a Master’s degree (preferred) in a related STEM discipline with 3 years of experience; or a PhD in a related discipline with 1 year of relevant work experience.
  • Current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application.
  • A DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (such as Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA, etc.) is required to start.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows Server and RedHat Server handling multi-user applications.
  • Experience in developing tools as well as their common usage.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting virtual machine issues and performance problems.
  • Experience creating VM deployment templates and automating deployments.
  • Understanding of Network Attached Storage, especially the NetApp FAS series.
  • Storage Area Network experience with high availability and performance for virtualization.
  • Effective communicator with excellent writing and presentation skills, proficient in using Microsoft PowerPoint and Visio.
  • Ability to work well with others in a team and independently on large field projects with other highly motivated network engineers.
  • Experience with the Agile Framework or applying Agile principles in engineering work.
  • Understanding of standard DoD security practices, such as STIG compliance and system accreditation efforts.
  • A current, active in-scope DoD-issued Top Secret security clearance at the time of application is highly preferred.
  • Authentication and encryption methods/capabilities (ACS, Active Directory, GEM-X), virtualization technologies such as: VMware vCenter vSphere Data Center Virtualization (VCP), VCAP Design, VCAP Deploy, and VCDX are highly desired.
