Northrop Grumman Space Systems-Launch and Missile Defense Systems presents an excellent opportunity for a Principal Engineer Systems - Network Virtualization Engineer III (25-360) to join our team of skilled and diverse professionals. This position, located in Colorado Springs, CO, plays a vital role in supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels.

  • Planning, deploying, integrating, and testing upgrades to the C2BMC network at operational sites
  • Traveling to remote locations to lead and perform network installations, independently troubleshoot, and provide status updates to Program personnel
  • Developing tools and their common usage
  • Troubleshooting virtual machine issues and performance problems
  • Creating VM deployment templates and automating deployments
  • Understanding Network Attached Storage, especially the NetApp FAS series
  • Managing Storage Area Network with high availability and performance for virtualization
  • Communicating effectively with excellent writing and presentation skills, proficient in using Microsoft PowerPoint and Visio
  • Working well with others in a team and independently on large field projects
  • Applying Agile principles in engineering work
  • Understanding standard DoD security practices, such as STIG compliance and system accreditation efforts
  • Performing any other tasks required by the program
  • A Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field such as Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related discipline from an accredited university is preferred, along with 5 years of experience; or a Master's degree (preferred) in a related STEM discipline with 3 years of experience; or a PhD in a related discipline with 1 year of relevant work experience
  • Current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application
  • DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (such as Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA, etc.)
  • VMware Certified Technical Associate
  • Data Center Virtualization (VCTA)
  • VMware Certified Professional
  • Proven systems engineer with hands-on mid-level experience and knowledge of virtualization design, development, and testing methodologies
  • Experience with VMware (vCenter), ESX servers, NetApp NAS/SAN, Windows servers, SQL servers
  • In-depth understanding of OSI Model, TCP/IP, Routing protocols, Network traffic analysis, Diagnostics and troubleshooting experience
  • Experience in VMware server installation, configuration, management, performance monitoring, and tuning of virtual machines and ESXi servers
  • Current, active in-scope DoD-issued Top Secret security clearance at the time of application
  • Authentication and encryption methods/capabilities (ACS, Active Directory, GEM-X)
  • Familiarity with Networking
