Northrop Grumman Space Systems-Launch and Missile Defense Systems offers an excellent opportunity for a Principal Engineer Systems - Global Algorithm Engineer (25-523) to join our team of skilled and diverse professionals. Located in Colorado Springs, CO, this position plays a vital role in supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels. This position does not provide relocation assistance and requires on-site work with no remote options.

  • Design, integrate, and test tracking, custody, and firing algorithm solutions.
  • Develop and validate complex models and simulations.
  • Collaborate with a team of systems engineering technologists and algorithm developers.
  • Conduct coding and peer reviews.
  • Review technical documents.
  • Perform root cause analysis.
  • Conduct process auditing.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field (Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics) with 5 years of experience; or a Master's degree with 3 years of experience; or a PhD with 1 year of experience.
  • Current, active in-scope DoD-issued Top Secret security clearance.
  • Mathematical background and algorithm experience in optimization, machine learning, or state estimation.
  • Experience in systems analysis and Sabremetrics-like studies.
  • Basic understanding of programming languages like Java and Python.
  • Experience in signal processing.
  • Knowledge of physics (aerodynamics, astrophysics).
  • Experience tuning complex algorithms.
  • Strong interpersonal and conflict management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
