Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Launch and Missile Defense Systems offers an excellent opportunity for a Principal Engineer Systems – Global Algorithm Engineer (25-523) to join our team of skilled and diverse professionals. Located in Colorado Springs, CO, this position plays a vital role in supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels. This position does not provide relocation assistance and requires on-site work with no remote options.

  • Design, integrate, and test tracking, custody, and firing algorithm solutions.
  • Develop and validate complex models and simulations.
  • Collaborate with a highly skilled team of systems engineering technologists and algorithm developers.
  • Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.
  • Conduct functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field (Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics) from an accredited university with 5 years of experience; or a Master’s degree with 3 years of relevant work experience; or a PhD with 1 year of relevant work experience.
  • Current, active in-scope DoD-issued Top Secret security clearance.
  • Mathematical background and algorithm experience in optimization, machine learning, or state estimation.
  • Experience in systems analysis and Sabremetrics-like studies focused on trend identification, process improvement, and error reduction.
  • Basic understanding of programming languages like JAVA and Python.
  • Experience in coding and peer reviews.
  • Seasoned reviewer of technical documents.
  • Experience in process auditing.
  • Strong interpersonal and conflict management skills.
  • Experience tuning complex algorithms.
  • Knowledge of physics (aerodynamics, astrophysics).
