The Engineer will be part of our System Integration organization, within the Systems Controls group in Windsor Locks, CT. This role will focus on systems requirements, product specifications, and model-based development. The Engineer will concentrate on defining and decomposing systems engineering requirements, conducting studies including control systems modeling and dynamic analysis, developing advanced models, and defining system test plans. The Engineer will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, customers, and management to define, review, and refine control system requirements critical to the design and development of complex integrated air management systems. This includes decomposing and negotiating requirements for system components, including the system controller software, to ensure seamless control system performance that integrates with sensors and effectors within their design limits, enabling robust system operation.

  • Define and decompose requirements for heating, cooling, and ventilation systems of aircraft.
  • Collaborate with customers and stakeholders to establish specifications, perform evaluations, and plan performance testing.
  • Formulate conceptual designs for continuous and discrete control system requirements, developing lower-level requirements to meet customer needs and business goals.
  • Develop advanced mathematical models or other computer analysis methods to create, evaluate, or modify designs according to customer engineering requirements.
  • Perform system-level analyses of thermal fluid systems and prepare technical reports with findings and recommendations.
  • Create and implement common procedures and standard work across the organization.
  • Investigate test results for consistency with performance predictions and compliance with system requirements.
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience.
  • 5–7 years of experience in the Aerospace, Automotive, or Oil & Gas industry preferred.
  • Experience in requirements definition and decomposition.
  • Experience with Model-Based Design engineering.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, Simulink, DOORS, Python, Modelica, or SysML.
  • Experience presenting to both management and customers.
  • Experience with task-level planning and project execution.
