As a member of the substation engineering design team at Puget Sound Energy, you'll contribute to vital projects that power our communities and support the escalating demand for green energy across Western Washington, all while growing your expertise and advancing your career as a Principle Substation Physical Design Engineer. This position requires having substantial experience with developing electrical design, physical design, and construction drawings for high and medium voltage equipment, conduit, and electrical grounding related to the upgrade or construction of a new transmission and distribution substations. Working understanding of current applicable NESC code and IEEE guidelines are essential. Must be well experienced in electrical related calculations, reports, technical specifications and cost estimates. The principle engineer shall possess a broad range of experience, expertise and/or understanding of engineering topics especially related to substation design and construction. Should have the flexibility to deal with shifting budgets and priorities; the ability and resiliency to adapt to changes; and a personality that promotes optimism and synergy. Shall possess QA/QC experience and judgement to quickly review drawings and other engineering deliverables for accuracy, clarity and consistency, and to promote safe, practical, and constructible designs. May provide technical advice and counsel to leadership on technical issues and is expected to provide training, technical direction, and leadership to other engineering positions in order to promote development. The ability to communicate effectively, clearly and concisely, both verbal and written to diverse audiences in any setting is essential.
