About The Position

The Principal Engineer, Structural Engineering will be responsible for conducting research, planning, and performing comprehensive stress analysis for aircraft interior accommodations. This role requires proficiency in classical stress analysis of composite and metallic structures, as well as expertise in finite element modeling (FEM) using software such as FEMAP, NASTRAN, or other FEA packages. The position is based in Everett, WA, and reports to the Sr. Manager of Structural Engineering. The successful candidate will review engineering drawings and models to ensure structural integrity and compliance with FAA regulations, and will serve as the stress engineering focal point during customer and internal meetings. In this role, the Principal Engineer will author and review various stress deliverables, including qualification plans (QP), interface loads reports (ILR), static test plans (STP), dynamic test plans (DTP), and abuse test plans (ATP). The engineer will conduct peer reviews of finite element models and coordinate with the integrated product team (IPT) as the stress engineering representative. This collaboration will involve working alongside design engineers, electrical engineers, flammability engineering, purchasing, operations, and program management teams. The ability to explain and present analysis and assumptions clearly to customers, leadership, and teammates is essential. Additionally, the Principal Engineer will support the development and maintenance of functional work instructions, procedures, technical manuals, and guidelines. They may also take on the role of functional lead for specific projects, working autonomously while providing technical guidance to a team of engineers. The position requires the ability to research and investigate structural design solutions independently and to develop automation tools using Excel API, Python, and Visual Basic (.NET). The role may also involve support for Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) or Production Line support, with travel expectations of up to 10%.
