Rohr Inc. d/b/a Collins Aerospace has an opening for a Principal Engineer, Structural Engineering in Chula Vista, CA. What YOU will do Work in the Aftermarket Technical Services and perform stress analysis and approve repairs to minimize aircraft downtime on all Collins Aerostructures commercial nacelle hardware that are compliant with certified type design and airworthiness (FAA/EASA) requirements. Perform repair stress analysis and develop analytical methods for complex technical issues requiring creativity and ingenuity to support airline operational requirements, formal certification reports and design changes. Provide technical guidance to junior engineers, make recommendations to management and work on standardization to improve turnaround times. Responsible for making quick engineering judgments and perform margins exploration analysis for repair solutions based on certification analysis, on various nacelle components for different programs. Apply advanced structural analysis principles to support repair design development on metallic and composite structures. Prepare RDAS/8110-3 documents including substantiating analysis and obtain/coordinate sign-off with Airworthiness organization. Communicate with Airline customers for rapid development and approval of technical solutions. Mentor other engineers and assist in the generation of standard work for repair development. Requirements

  • Must possess at least a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering or a related field and 8 years of progressive experience as a Stress Analyst or related role working on aircraft nacelle structure components.
  • In the alternative, at least a master’s degree or its equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering or a related field and 5 years of experience as a Stress Analyst or related role working on aircraft nacelle structure components would be acceptable.
  • Must possess at least 5 years of experience with repair analysis of aircraft Nacelle Structures metallic and/or composite structures.
  • Must possess at least 5 years of experience with maintenance, repair, overhaul, and regulatory requirements in the commercial aircraft industry.
  • Must possess at least 5 years of experience with load path, load balance, free body diagram and experience in classical hand analysis methods used in Aerospace structural analysis.
  • Must possess at least 5 years of experience with finite element analysis of aircraft structure using Patran/Nastran (soln's 101, 106, 111).
  • Non-US Person - Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the company’s immigration sponsorship now or in the future. The company will not offer immigration sponsorship for this position. The company will not seek an export authorization for this role.
