This role is for a senior engineer in Configuration Services. It is responsible for customer solution management through the life cycle of the project. The engineer will be a lead for driving solution development for complex customer requirements as well as working on process improvement initiatives and enablement of additional services. The ideal candidate must have a mix of product knowledge and program management/experience in order to support customer projects and larger initiatives impacted the engineering organization. What you’ll achieve As a Principal Engineer, in Solutions Architecture, you’ll take the technical lead during pre-sales engagement, using a consultative approach towards the Customer to fully understand their overall business goals. From there, you will translate the Client’s business requirements into specific systems or applications for complex technology solutions. You will:

Requirements

  • Knowledge in program management tools being able to drive schedules, work breakdown structures and managing issues as they arise
  • Enterprise and Client Hardware Knowledge with a focus on firmware and BIOS architecture
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Operating Systems and imaging technologies (MDT, SCCM, Kace) with ability to create and consult with Customer on specific solutions
  • Solid written and oral communication skills, able to articulate technical details to internal stakeholders; will support calls with internal and external teams, including customers
  • Advanced technical writing skills and demonstrated ability to document processes for the customer
  • Typically requires 8+ years of related experience in a professional role with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6+ years with a Master’s degree; or 3+ years with a PhD; or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

  • Lead project quality assurance efforts, including supervising, training, and mentoring technical staff on large, complex projects
  • Apply deep expertise in Dell Technologies products, integrations, and environments while staying current with industry advancements
  • Own and drive end‑to‑end project timelines across development and fulfillment, coordinating deliverables from cross‑functional support teams
  • Present complex solutions and project outcomes to executive‑level customers, ensuring strong stakeholder alignment
  • Drive operational excellence by meeting cycle-time SLAs, managing failure resolution and leading process, tool, and transformation improvements as the engineering SME
