Pratt & Whitney is seeking a Propulsion Systems Analysis (PSA) Engineer for our Engine Design & Systems Integration (EDSI) Military (Mil) APU/TJ team to support expendable Turbojet (TJ) programs. This is a systems analysis position within the EDSI-Mil team and requires candidates with a technical understanding of engine systems and components. The ideal candidate will be team/customer focused, have good communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. The work would cover one, or multiple stages, of the engineering lifecycle like: requirements generation, concept, development, production, & sustainment in alignment with the RTX Lifecycle Program Management (RLPM) & Gatorworks process. This is a great opportunity for an engineer seeking to exercise their knowledge and inventiveness in arriving at robust systems solutions. This is a direct salary position starting immediately, located in West Palm Beach, FL. Candidates will utilize NPSS for thermodynamic modeling of engine performance for conceptual designs, and component updates. Model output will be created and analyzed to provide design/performance table output and component enhancement recommendations. Support engine validation of various small Turbojet and APU, including test planning, run program creation, and test stand support. Work with EDSI-Mil Systems Design, Aero, Structures, and Project teams towards generating engine cycle solutions that support the system architecture. Provide PSA support in developing conceptual, preliminary, and/or detailed component or systems design for small Turbojets (TJ’s). Provide engine test planning, support, and analysis. Provide systems analysis support as needed to Small Engine Programs. Interaction with internal and external customers is expected; good communication skills and assertiveness are key qualities to possess.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) or equivalent experience and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years’ experience
  • U.S. Citizenship required due to government contracts
  • Travel less than 10%

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with the following propulsion systems Analysis tools: Numerical Propulsion System Simulation (NPSS) – modeling and analysis of engine performance
  • Unigraph – data plotting and analysis
  • ITE – test data repository
  • Experience with Matlab, or similar analysis tool, is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of jet engine systems/modules.
  • Familiarity with development engine instrumentation
  • Experience in managing internal and external customers.
