Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Launch and Missile Defense Systems offers an excellent opportunity for a Principal Engineer Network – Lab Network Engineer (25-365) to join our team of skilled and diverse professionals. Located in Colorado Springs, CO, this role plays a vital part in supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels. Relocation assistance is not provided for this position, and this role requires on-site work with no remote options.

  • Serve as the primary Network Engineer supporting the C2BMC Program.
  • Function as both a Network Engineer and Developer, assisting with network build-out and deployments to the operational environment.
  • Collaborate within an agile Scrum team and plan work based on customer requirements and program contractual obligations and agreements.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university is preferred, along with 5 years of experience; or a Master’s degree in a related field with 3 years of relevant work experience; or 9 years of relevant experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree.
  • Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application.
  • A DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher is required to start.
  • Experience with capturing and deciphering packets, Network Address Translation (NAT), Network Timing, and the ability to read technical network diagrams.
  • Proven and demonstrated network traffic analysis, diagnostic, and troubleshooting experience.
  • Specific experience with Juniper and/or Cisco networking equipment required.
  • Familiarity with TCP/IP Model, OSI Model, Multicast, Firewalls, Routing Protocols BGP and OSPF.
  • Prior experience with C2BMC network is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge, skill sets, or experience using protocol analyzers or sniffers (such as Wireshark) is highly desired.
  • Familiarity with virtualization is highly recommended.
  • Experience with Agile development and related testing methodologies.
  • Knowledge of automated testing frameworks, Python, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
  • Hands-on experience with WAN optimizers, TACLANEs, and optical transport equipment.
