Technology Strategy, Global Infrastructure & App Security (TSGI) is looking for an innovative and driven leader with a passion for Cybersecurity and Technology. This Infrastructure & Cloud Security Engineer will support a new organization dedicated to Infrastructure & Cloud Security Governance, specifically for our Global Technology Solutions (GTS) Enterprise Network. This role will partner and work closely with key cross-functional stakeholders, like Verizon Cybersecurity (VCS), Global Network & Technology (GNT) Network Security, and our GTS Enterprise Network teams, in order to protect our network and align on proactive security measures to effectively mitigate risks, enable safe digital transformation, and defend against emerging threats and vulnerabilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
• Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.
• Experience in Information Security, Infrastructure or Cloud Technology, and Technical Risk Analysis
• Experience with scripting and programming for automation of data parsing, API interactions, and custom tool development.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge and experience in analyzing large datasets (e.g., Netflow, firewall, DNS, Proxy, VPN logs) to identify anomalies and perform in-depth analytics.
• Experience with data analytical tools such as Splunk, Elasticsearch, or Hadoop
• Experience in creating, modifying, and executing Ansible playbooks for automation, configuration management, and orchestration of security deployments across diverse network devices and servers.
• Comprehensive understanding of cybersecurity, network defense, and investigative frameworks (such as NIST CSF, ISO 27000 series, MITRE ATT&CK, Lockheed Martin Cyber Kill Chain, etc.) into network defense processes
• High-level understanding of Cloud Environments (AWS, Azure, OCI) and Operating Systems (Windows, Unix/Linux, and OSX)
• Certifications like: CCNA, Network+, Security+, CISSP

Responsibilities

• Operational Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement Leading the day-to-day operations; this involves engaging both internal and external stakeholders, at times utilizing a dotted-line leadership approach.
• Security Governance Reporting & Automation Automating and continuously improving Infrastructure and Cloud Security Governance reporting dashboards, scorecards and maturity models used to quantify and reduce cyber risks through actionable frameworks; this includes working with our Verizon India team to execute.
• Infrastructure Design & Zero Trust Alignment Supporting the design of GTS On-Prem Infrastructure, Data centers, and Cloud environments; along with GTS enterprise network and zero trust alignment.
• Process Improvement & Gap Analysis Collaborating with stakeholders to identify gaps and process improvements in order to enhance security protections and improve cybersecurity maturity; this includes utilizing automation tools to measure program effectiveness.
• Security Awareness & Compliance Training Providing security awareness, training & compliance programs focused on Network Cybersecurity practices; this will require leveraging the Mavens program, a team of security professionals who facilitate adoption of Security by Design.
• Cybersecurity Partnership & Incident Response Partnering with our Verizon Cybersecurity teams; to include participating in Active Defense and Incident Response, Penetration Testing, Red team and Threat Hunt campaigns, as well as Tabletop Exercises when necessary.
• Executive Reporting & Metrics Producing executive-level operational read-outs, metrics, and project statuses that accurately capture the effectiveness of our team’s mission.
• Strategic Planning & Execution Executing long-term and short-term strategic goals and ensuring proper updates are socialized to appropriate stakeholders; this requires cross-functional collaboration and relationship building to also achieve wider, organizational strategic goals.
• Team Mentorship & Skill Development Motivating, mentoring, and advising network & infrastructure analysts and engineers on how to build and maintain skills and techniques needed to produce quality work products. This includes hosting focused training sessions to teach new and specialized skill sets.
• Culture of Collaboration & Accountability Promoting an environment of collaboration and individual accountability when it comes to problem-solving, decision-making, and process improvements
