In this role, the candidate will contribute to the success of vital defense systems that protect the nation by supporting cutting-edge development of upcoming long-range missile defense interceptors, targets, space launch, and strike vehicles. Northrop Grumman Sector: Space Systems Division: Launch & Exploration Business Unit: Launch Systems Department: Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC) Engineering Principal Engineer Guidance Navigation and Control Group: Navigation, Analysis and Simulation This is a full time on-site position working a 9/80 schedule in Chandler, Arizona.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's degree in STEM with 3 years of related engineering experience
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance
  • Experience with Inertial, Satellite-Based, or Integrated Navigation Systems

Nice To Haves

  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance, or higher
  • Experience with the C++, MATLAB, Simulink, and Python programming languages
  • Experience with the Linux Operating System
  • Experience with relevant navigation sensors including IMUs, GPS receivers, and/or radar altimeters
  • Experience in testing, designing, and/or reviewing data from Kalman Filters
  • Experience in navigation algorithms design and/or review
  • Experience designing, testing, and/or reviewing data for navigation systems for launch vehicles

Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate for this position will be responsible for providing priority navigation technical contributions for a variety of programs, including, but not limited to, missile defense targets programs, next-generation interceptors, and various other missile and rocket programs.
  • Familiarity with inertial, satellite-based, and integrated navigation systems and customer provided requirement analysis is a plus.
  • Proven experience with flight software in a simulation environment is a plus.
