About The Position

Seeking Principal-level Electrical Design Engineers to provide on-site engineering support for a high-hazard, regulated facility. This role focuses on complex electrical design, analysis, and construction support for mission-critical systems. The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on design authority experience, strong calculation capability, and comfort working in active industrial or nuclear environments.

Requirements

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering or related discipline with 5+ years of experience
  • MS in Electrical Engineering or related discipline with 8+ years of experience
  • BS in Electrical Engineering or related discipline with 10+ years of experience
  • Minimum 10 years of electrical design experience in nuclear or chemical process facilities
  • Demonstrated expertise in electrical design calculations and system analysis
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC, NFPA, IEEE, IES, and OSHA requirements
  • Hands-on experience using electrical analysis software (ETAP strongly preferred)
  • Ability to perform weekly field walkdowns in active construction or operating facilities
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Prior DOE or high-hazard facility design engineering experience
  • Previous site-specific design engineering experience
  • Proficiency with MicroStation 2D CADD
  • Prior DOE L or Q clearance within the past two years
  • Active clearance not required to start

Responsibilities

  • Provide electrical design engineering staff augmentation support to the client
  • Lead and execute complex electrical design solutions involving unique or technically challenging requirements
  • Perform engineering analysis, design development, and construction support
  • Generate and review design deliverables including: Single Line Diagrams, Electrical Equipment Lists and Specifications, Control System Design, Schematics, and Connection Diagrams, Raceway, circuit, wiring, and grounding designs, Fire detection and heat tracing designs, Electrical system sizing and bulk material specifications
  • Perform electrical calculations including short circuit, arc flash, load flow, and system sizing (ETAP preferred)
  • Conduct field walkdowns and support design validation activities
  • Apply applicable codes and standards including NEC, NFPA, IEEE, IES, and OSHA
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less senior engineers
  • Develop schedules, monitor progress, and support cost and quality objectives
  • Communicate technical results clearly to engineering peers, construction teams, and management
